The Ember Korowai Takitini advocacy platform sits alongside our work across the Group. It provides a clear way for external audiences to understand what we stand for and provides a platform for us to activate systemic change beyond services.
Our advocacy platform is a shared expression of our beliefs, grounded in our mission, vision, values, and the direction set through Bold Horizon. It brings together lived experience, operational practice, and community presence into a form that can be understood and used beyond the sector.
We express it as Visible Citizenship, not only do we talk about in our media channels, and argue for it through reform we express in it our practice and it manifests physically in our Community Housing Build and our Te Piringa Ahuru peer hub. Mental health and addiction is not separate from our lives it is part of our society and deserves to be fully visible.
We believe
- The system has to change, redesigned not patch up
- Lived experience is where all services begin
- Communities have the answers
- Solutions mean talks to many different people often
- Funding has fallen behind population growth, investment needs to reconsidered
- Support should the where the need is
- This platform is shaped by the idea that change happens through visibility, shared language, and consistent action over time.
Our advocacy platform operates across four areas: Community and society, Operations and practice, Sector and Corporate partners, Government and policy.
